Farmer Boy

Jasper is reading Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder at school. His teacher requested a needle felted Farmer Boy doll. So while we are at home we decided to give it a try.

Start with a wire armature. Wrap with wool roving. And begin shaping it with a felting needle.

Stay tuned for Farmer Boy's progress.

Homemade Ravioli

Giada DeLaurentis went to Harry's Bar in Venice, Italy were she learned how to make their famous ravioli. The pasta is white flour and boiling water. "That's it? No salt?" her Italian aunt's asked. "That's it!" So we decided to take on this simple dish. The filing is just as simple: ricotta cheese mixed with one egg, salt and pepper. This time Sydney wanted to add fresh basil to the filling. We picked up the ravioli stamps at Surfas.

Crocheting

Jasper has been learning to crochet in school. His two week assignment was to crochet three chains and braid them into a necklace. He finished the project on the first day and went on to make all of us bracelets.

His crochet verse:
Over the bridge, hook a fish and home to mother.
